Welcome to the Hursley Hash House Harriers Website
Hursley H3 is a running club based upon the "Hash House Harriers", a world-wide group first formed in Singapore in 1938. We run in Hampshire and the New Forest on Sunday mornings starting at 11am. We follow trails of flour or sawdust for about 5-7 miles, usually including mud and water where possible. The Hares lay the trail and usually take great delight in watching the rest of us attempt to find our way back to the pub at the finish!
Hursley was formed by Mudlark and More (Mrs. Mudlark) in the 1990's and in July 2009 we celebrated our 1000th run - photos can be found on the photos tab.
Based upon the old style Hare and Hounds, Hashing is a cross country run of around 5-7 miles using a trail of flour set by one or two people beforehand, known as "Hares" The rest of the runners then attempt to follow th trail trying to find their way home. This group of searchers are known as the "Hounds"
Young and old can take part, you run (or walk) at your own pace. Walkers are known as Short Cutters and we have several most weeks so come and join us.
We usually start and end at a pub, or sometimes an Indian, and after we have worked up a thirst we perform the ritual "Down Down" ceremony often partake in one or two drinks and sample the local food on offer.
It's purely a fun activity, and not to be taken at all seriously - We certainly don't.........
Newcomers are always welcome including well behaved dogs and children on leads! Full details of upcoming runs can be found by clicking on the Next Runs link on the left.
Hope to see you soon - On, On......
