Race Instructions

Car Parks

Registration has gone MUCH better than we expected; there will be about 150 runners on the day. That will put a significant strain on parking in the local area, so please share transport and arrive early.

Peter Symonds Car Park

There is limited parking at Peter Symonds. Please Car Share wherever possible, and ARRIVE early. The car parks are here:

There is a map of the Peter Symonds campus here.

Winchester Station Car Park

Given the limited car parking at Peter Symonds we suggest that, where possible, you park at Winchester Station. The car park entrance is opposite the south end of Cranworth Road. Walk up Cranworth, jag right and left, and you’ll be in Owen’s Road where Peter Symonds College is.

Arriving

You may arrive on site any time after 9:00am. The Main Entrance to Peter Symonds College, on Owens Road, will be closed to cars at 10:30am. Runners must be ready 15 minutes before their start.

Start times

Before your race time, please gather on the grassy area between the Northbook Learning Resource Centre and the tennis courts, as shown on the campus map. When it is time for your start, please make your way to the roadway in front of (to the south of) the Northbrook Learning Resource centre.

Note: We don’t have a vertical profile of the routes, but the total vertical distance from the lowest point to the highest on the longest route is less than 50 metres.

Disclaimer: You take part in the event entirely at your own risk: the organisers cannot be held responsible for any accidents, injury, loss or damage. You must abide by the stated conditions as laid out in the race information details on the web site and obey any instructions given to you by race marshalls.

Note: This event has the minimum of marshalls, to allow the maximum number of people to run. The three courses will be marked with blobs of coloured flour in the normal "hashing" manner, except that there will be no complications like checks or false trails. 10K runners follow the red blobs and arrows, 5K runners follow the blue blobs and arrows, 2.5K runners follow the green blobs and arrows. PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CARE IF CROSSING ROADS.

Toilets

There are a very limited number of toilets available for runners, so remember what your Mum told you ... remember to go before you leave home! To find the loos, look on the campus map for the changing rooms just west of the tennis courts.

Food

For registered runners there will be a delicious, hot, lentil curry and bread when you get back. It will be warming and filling and will replace your calories. English Sunday Lunch it won't be; we're remembering and helping starving children around the world. If you would like to help prepare or serve the food to the runners, please let us know by contacting James.

If you can't be with us on the day, but would like to donate direct, please check out all the details on the Run Day tools page.

asics
Asics

A new era of sportswear manufacturing began in 1949, when Mr. Onitsuka started Onitsuka Co. Ltd. Looking stunned at post World War II Japan with its huge numbers of homeless children he asked himself: "What can I do to give them a better future?" His love for sports led him to the right answer: That sports would be the best starting point to achieve this goal. ASICS was born. ASICS’ sub-brand Onitsuka Tiger revives the company’s legendary Japanese heritage featuring both casual sports shoes and fashionable apparel for leisure wear.
